CHIROPRACTIC TECHNIQUES

Our techniques are the tools in our toolbox. There are a vast number of Chiropractic techniques, each with their own benefits and limitations. Having a wider range of tools means we will be able to help get to the bottom of some more complex problems.

OUR TECHNIQUES

Manual Adjustments

This involves a gentle yet specific thrust which aims to restore normal position, movement and function to a misaligned joint.

Manual adjustments are done with the hands and are usually accompanied by an audible sound. The “cracking” sound is a gaseous release as the joint returns to an improved position and function.

Contrary to popular belief, manual adjustments can be very gentle and specific.

Cranio-Sacral Techniques

Are gentle, low force techniques named due to the relationship between the cranium (skull bones) and the sacrum (base of the spine). It may involve the use of blocks or wedges, an adjusting tool (called an activator), and finger pressure corrections. This is our preferred technique for children and babies.

Activator Method

This technique uses a small, hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument. It delivers a gentle impulse force to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal vertebra or joint.

The Activator Method is one of the most widely-researched chiropractic techniques. It is the only instrument adjusting technique with 23 clinical trials to support its efficacy. Activator Methods has published hundreds of clinical and scientific peer-reviewed papers.

Other Techniques

Chiropractic care may also involve other natural forms of health care including stretching and exercise suggestions, soft tissue work, massage, nutritional advice, ergonomic and postural advice, lifestyle and health education information.
